THE MANY UPDATES OF STUART MCPHERSON
Sometimes I do things or have things happen to me and some of them get posted here
The Stand Comedy Club Livestream
The Scotsman Sessions
The Scotsman asked Amy Matthews and I to contribute a video to their Scotsman Sessions series. It was supposed to be stand up but I read the email wrong so we send a dumb video of us messing around in my flat. It was fun. You can watch it, accompanied by an interview with Jay Richardson on The Scotsman's website here
This Saturday (15th August) I will perform live in a comedy club for the first time in 5 months. Streamed live from The Stand Comedy Club, one of the best comedy clubs in the world, you can watch live on Youtube here (online until Monday morning).
The Good, The Bad
and the Unexpected
I will be a panellist on BBC Radio Scotland programme "The Good, The Bad and the Unexpected" this week, alongside Justin Moorhouse and Kaye Adams.
You can listen live on Friday 12th of June at 1.30 pm, or on iPlayere thereafter.
Scottish Comedy Awards
I've been nominated for Best Solo Show at the 2020 Scottish Comedy Awards for my Edinburgh Fringe Show "Mr. November".
There was also a nod for Best Online for the Archie Pepper Scot Squad Election Leaders special, and Best TV for The State of It.
Sonnet Youth Livestream
I am performing this Thursday for Sonnet Youth alongside a selection of writers, poets and musicians. You can watch it on their Facebook page.
Socially Distant with Susan Calman
I appear on this week's Socially Distant with Susan Calman doing stand up in my room in my pants about what lockdown's been like so far. You can watch on BBC Scotland and BBC iPlayer.
Monkey Barrel Online Content
This week you can catch a short video written by and starring my partner Amy Matthews and I over on Monkey Barrel Comedy's social media platforms for their "Today's World" feature alongside some other top comics. It will also be shown on NextUp.
I will also appear on Monkey Barrel's Big Show with a stand up set recorded live at the club back in January.
New show for Glasgow International Comedy Festival 2020
I'm bringing a new work in progress show to Glasgow's glittering State Bar on Friday 20th March, 2020 as part of the Glasgow International Comedy Festival. It's called (for now) Come See What Papa's Cookin', as I was in mischievous form when I filled out the application.
You can find out more, and buy tickets here.
Article about Peep Show for The Skinny
The Skinny asked me to write an article about a comedy show for their regular feature ICYMI (In Case You Missed It). I chose to write about Peep Show, and some of the reasons why I think it's amazing.
You can read the article in this month's magazine, or online here.
Scot Squad: Leaders Off The Record
My on-screen evil twin, Scot Squad's Archie Pepper was tasked with briefing the Scottish Political party leaders ahead of their crunch election interview with The Chief.
You can watch Archie questioning the leaders here, on BBC iPlayer
I was on BBC Scotland's 'Bad Influencer' with my pal Krystal Evans, talking about Scottish social media's approach to family and work. It was a laugh.
You can watch our episode on BBC iPlayer here
RE: THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL FRINGE
Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who came to 'Mr. November'. I had an amazing time this Festival, far surpassing any expectations I had.
I was lucky to get to play to full rooms every day and have some nice things written about me. When you combine this with the sheer amount of chips I was eating each day it really adds up to a pleasant experience.
"McPherson is a highly engaging storyteller and, like any good comic, it very much feels like it’s only you in the room with him. What sets McPherson apart as a performer is there’s yet to be anyone else to explore the pain that comes with being a ‘millenial’ with quite so much accuracy and intimacy."
-The Skinny ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
(one of The Skinny's top comedy shows for Edinburgh 2019)
The good folks at Punchline UK have recommended my show 'Mr. November' as one of the top shows to see at this year's Fringe.
You can read a Q&A I did with them here
Sanjeev Kohli's Big Talk
I'll be on BBC Scotland's 'Sanjeev Kohli's Big Talk' on Wednesday 5th June to discuss the phenomenon of 'Scottish Cringe' amongst other topics. I will also be filming a VT for the show
Equal parts thrilled and terrified to announce I am performing my debut show at the Fringe this year with the wonderful Monkey Barrel Comedy. See you there, suckers. This is the poster, designed by Kit McMurdo-Schad
SCOT SQUAD SERIES 5
Scot Squad is back tomorrow night on the new BBC Scotland channel! I reprise my role as online investigator Archie Pepper. It's a really fun show to be a part of and you can see below that between the last series and now we won a Scottish BAFTA. I am the one standing at the side looking kinda awkward like that photo of Ashley Cole when he played for Roma.
AMUSED MOOSE COMPETITION
I made it through to the final of the Amused Moose National New Comic Award. The final is at the Edinburgh Fringe on August 19th, and you can get tickets here: https://tickets.edfringe.com/whats-on/amused-moose-comedy-s-national-new-comic-award-final
